Progress toward the development of a concurrent tandem catalytic (CTC) methodology for the trifluoromethylation of aryl bromides and aryl chlorides will be reported. In the first step of the method, an aryl bromide or an aryl chloride will be converted into the corresponding aryl iodide. The more reactive aryl iodide will subsequently undergo a coupling reaction to produce the desired trifluoromethyl arene. The effect of reaction variables such as the catalyst (metal and ligand), temperature, and time will be discussed.<br/>
