Tungsten and molybdenum tris(pyrazolyl)methane (Tpm) and tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)methane (Tpm’) carbonyl complexes have been reacted with HBF<sub>4</sub>, iodine, and bromine to give seven coordinate cationic tricarbonyl complexes. The bromo derivative and a chloro derivative can also be synthesized by reaction of the with metal species with N-bromosuccinimide or N-chlorosuccinimide as well. Trends in the IR and NMR for the series of complexes will be discussed.
