The celebration of 75 birthday of Dr. Kash Mittal is a wonderful occasion for our research group to express profound gratitude for his great and long-time cooperation in the fields of wetting, contact angle, and surfactants in solution investigations and others. We are indebted, for instance, not only for his very careful reviewing of our papers and suggestions to improve them, which we sent for publication in the Journal of Adhesion Science (ca. 32), Chapters in the books edited by him (ca.16), but also for the invitations to attend the Wetting, Spreading and Adhesion, Contact Angle and Surfactants in Solution Symposia (ca. 30). Also many reviews of the papers sent for publication in the Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology were made by me (at least 16). Moreover, to help our personal participation he often agreed to waive the payment of registration fee, which helped us very much to attend many of the above-mentioned conferences. Having profound gratitude to Dr. Mittal, in 2003 I asked the authorities of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University to grant him with the doctor honoris causa degree and my petition was accepted by the Senate of our university. Then on April 30, 2003 Dr. Mittal was awarded this valuable degree. On June 26, this year 23 International Symposium on Surfactants in Solution will be held at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, Poland, which we appreciate very much. This kind of symposia was initiated over 45 years ago by Dr. Mittal and he has always been its General Chairman. More information will be presented during the Conference. Today our heartfelt appreciation goes to Dr. Mittal for his long-time fruitful cooperation and help for our research group to present our results for the international audience. We wish him many, many coming years to enjoy excellent health and further outstanding contributions to the World Colloid Science.
