The use of advanced spectroscopic techniques to interrogate chemical reactions has become increasingly popular in the pharmaceutical industry, as it provides a superior picture of all species in a reaction mixture. Optical spectroscopies have been the go-to technologies for reaction monitoring for many years. We (and others) have shown NMR to be well suited for interrogating transient intermediates, providing kinetic information via multiple NMR active nuclei, and providing quantitative information for monitoring mass balance. MS offers enhanced sensitivity and the ability to probe a reaction on a more rapid timescale.  We make use of a wide range of advanced analytical systems in our reaction monitoring work, ranging from traditional IR PAT probes, NMR systems ranging from 60 to 500 MHz, and a range of different mass spectrometers depending on the application to be investigated.  We have recently begun utilizing smaller, more flexible systems for reaction monitoring to take advantage of their increased portability.  As we gather more complex datasets, advanced data processing tools have become increasingly necessary.  An overview of some applications of our work utilizing these tools for reaction monitoring will be outlined. <br/>
