This investigation focuses on the evaluation of the lipids contained in wastewater from dairy industries as an alternative raw material for obtaining biodiesel. Dairy industry waste is a polluting effluent with high-fat content, potentially usable, with very few studies in this regard and can be extracted with high yields to obtain biodiesel. The extraction of lipids was based on the use of solvents, specifically hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethyl propionate. Likewise, extraction kinetics were performed to determine the yield of the extracted lipids as a function of time and were modeled through equations to calculate thermodynamic parameters. For the biodiesel synthesis reactions, it was performed a factorial design of experiments while varying the types and amounts of alcohol/catalyst to be used and to obtain high yields in regards to the biodiesel obtention.
