Nowadays, interest in Photosystem II mimicking has been spurred by environmental factors, focusing on the OEC active site. In this context we center our attention on the ligands 2-benzimidazolylmethanol and 1-methyl-2-benzimidazolylmetanol for the formation of cubane-type complexes M4O4  with Mn, Co and Ni.
