The goal of this work was the design and optimization of novel, reversible and competitive cruzain inhibitors with in vitro and in vivo anti-T. cruzi activity. This goal was pursued by conducting a computational-experimental approach involving structure-based drug design (SBDD), organic synthesis, biochemical and biological evaluation.
