The present poster displays the synthesis and characterization of a nano-sized ZnO that shows catalytic activity in the photodegradation of methylene blue. The oxide was successfully identified by FTIR, XRD, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Scherrer analysis of the ZnO diffractogram showed a crystallite size of 19.6 nm and UV-Vis spectrum exposed a ZnO Band Gap of 3.3 eV. A solution of 1.01x10-5 M of methylene blue was used to measure the photocatalytic activity. 45% of degradation was achieved under UV light and 26% of degradation was achieved under solar light.
