Living polymerizations create unique opportunities for the production of polymers and macromonomers.  In solution, polymers copolymers and macromonomers can be prepared with controlled, narrow molecular weight distributions and functional end groups.  In a bulk polymerization it is possible to also achieve the same results.  However, when solvent is not present the practical issues must be considered and the changes of the resulting product.  When batch reactions are performed on a thousand pound scale and an order is for 10 thousands of pounds, can you control PDI?  When are molecular weight and PDI important?  Interesting examples will be discussed.
