Regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) with bromo, allyl and thiol functional end-groups have been synthesized. The thiol end-functionalized poly(3-hexylthiophene) was prepared via a Mitsunobu reaction from the allyl-terminated precursor. These polymers were incorporated in bulk heterojunction solar cells with CdSe quantum dots. The power conversion efficiencies for devices prepared from each end-functional polymer/CdSe blend was determined.
