(IMes)2Pt(H)(Cl-boratabenzene) (1) demonstrates a bonding mode which is unique for borabenzene and rare for Lewis acids.[1] It is observed that the chloride bridges both the borabenzene and the transition metal. The reactivity observed for 1 indicates that the Lewis acid character of borabenzene is still available. Complex 1 undergoes substitution reactions with Lewis bases to form borabenzene Lewis adducts and reacts with various reagents to form boracyclohexadiene fragments which would result formally from an electrophilic attack at the a position of the borabenzene moiety.
