The application of poly(ester)s in biomedical applications is attractive as a consequence of their biocompatibility and inherent degradability characteristics. Several previous reports have detailed the application of poly(lactide) or poly(caprolactone) block copolymers typically with a hydrophilic block consisting of PEG or a non-degradable block synthesized by a complimentary polymerization mechanism. Our work has focused on the study and self-assembly of hydrophilic poly(ester) containing polymers synthesized entirely by ring-opening polymerization.
