What types of jobs can lead to sustainable work-lifebalanced positions? Are they in industry, government or academia? A studywas conducted by the author, who interviewed over 200 life science industryprofessionals about their jobs and the results were culminated in her book, CareerOpportunities in Biotechnology and Drug Development. One surprising resultof the research is that there are many types of jobs that can provide more of awork-life balance, while other careers should be avoided. As each individual hasunique goals and backgrounds, and there are many career possibilities anddirections to explore, it is important to take time to read about and researchthe many vocational areas in order to identify appropriate matches that bestsuit an individual's interests, skills, personality attributes and professionaland personal goals.
