The development of stimuli-responsive self-assembled materials is of major interest in polymer science. Hydrogen bonding motifs capable of selective recognition of a binding partner are attractive building blocks with which this can be achieved.1 We recently reported two novel linear hydrogen bonding units capable of selective and reversible association to a complementary unit.2,3 The novel motifs present comparable binding affinities to commonly employed supramolecular units, yet offer more accessible synthetic pathways.Herein, we present our progress towards developing supramolecular materials based upon recently reported hydrogen bonding units. Synthesis of side-chain functionalised polymers via radical polymerisation and our development of telechelic building blocks will be described.(1) Wilson, A.
