The Union University student chapter of the American Chemical Society continued its tradition of serving the students, faculty, and community of Jackson, TN. From chemistry for home school students and sponsoring Thanksgiving Day baskets for Jackson's less fortunate to providing Christmas presents for an abused child, facilitating Boy Scout Merit Badge workshops, and providing human infrastructure for the regional science fair, students have served the city of Jackson and the region in a multitude of ways in the past school year. The central project of Union's student chapter this year was the education of children across Jackson through the �Chemistry: Its Magic!� educational initiative. This project, funded by an ACS Community Interactions Grant, focused on enhancing elementary children's knowledge of chemistry as evidenced by an improvement in their end-of-year benchmark scores. In all activities, Union University chemistry students tried to �improve people's lives through the transforming power of chemistry.�
