The American Chemical Society student chapter at Suffolk University had four major goals  to ensure a successful year. The goals were to interact with K-12 students to promote chemistry, hosting and attending green chemistry events, increasing interactions with other chemists in the local section, and recruiting new members in various areas of study. The chapter worked with local middle schools performing science experiments and tutoring those who wanted assistance. Raksmey Derival, from non-profit organization Beyond Benign, offered fellowship opportunities to our chapter members allowing us to perform experiments in local schools promoting the concept of green chemistry. The chapter participated in many events during National Chemistry Week including demonstrations at the Boston Children' Museum and the Museum of Science. Through local TV network NewTV our chapter was able to broadcast a chemistry demo involving experiments such as 'bubbles in the beaker' and were awarded Best Special Effects. New members were recruited through campus wide Mole Day initiatives of handing out nano-moles, greeting students with �Happy Mole Day,� and inviting them to future meetings as well as email and flyer announcements showcasing upcoming events. Our chapter involved Suffolk University as well as the City of Boston in organizing an event called Earth Hour. We took part in this event to help the community and the planet, as well as showcasing our seriousness to conserving energy. The goal of interaction with other chemists was accomplished through attending NESACS local meetings regularly. The success of our chapter could not have been achieved without the help of all our advisors, members, co-workers and friends.
