Copper(II)-filled SWNTs are wrapped by biocompatible materials such as fluorescein-tagged beta-D-glucans. The resulting nanohybrid has enhanced dispersibility in organic solvents and in cell medium (EMEM). This was characterized by surface analysis methods and by fluorescence, CD and UV-Vis spectroscopies.  Confocal fluorescence imaging in cancerous (MCF-7) and healthy (FEK-4) cells showed that the nanohybrid translocates rapidly into cells cytoplam. Cytoplasm bio-localisation was investigated in detail using life-time imaging fluorescence and their potential application in drug delivery for cancer-targeting therapy was explored.
