We report a study of physical properties of P3HT in a series of model BHJ structures composed of P3HT and TiO2 nano-arrays. The physical properties of P3HT under nano-confinement were investigated. While increase in photoluminescence quenching when P3HT was infiltrated into the pores shows effective exciton dissociation, a limiting factor arises due to deterioration of carrier mobility in P3HT because of change in chain conformation under confinement. This mechanism is supported by findings from the optical absorption spectra.
