There are huge quantities of heavy oil, extra-heavy oil, and bitumen resources in the worldwide, which were estimated to be three times as much as the conventional oil and gas resources by IEA. The develpment of recovery methods for the heavy oil resources face up with a great challenge at present. Prime and secondary methods are still be used in the recovery of heavy oil resources, while more and more attentions have been paid to EOR techniques for enhancing oil recovery ratio. The future development of EOR depends on the improvement and integrity of new techniques and economics situation.
