The diacrylate and diallyl derivatives of a-amino-e-caprolactam were synthesized by the reactions of ethyl a-(chloromethyl)acrylate and allyl bromide with a-amino-e-caprolactam respectively. The monomers were obtained with good conversions and high purity. Free radical polymerizations of the monomers gave soluble cyclopolymers due to high degree of intra- rather than intermolecular reactions during polymerizations. 1H NMR and 13C NMR analyses of the cyclopolymers confirmed that thecyclization efficiencies were very high.
