Molecular self assembly attracts a great deal of attention of scientists and technologists in the recent times due to its use in the design and fabrication of nano-structures that leads to the development of advanced materials.  Systems possessing both hydrophobic and hydrophilic segments lead to ordered arrangements to result in the formation of different nano-architectures. Since the nano-fibers formed from a glycoconjugate and amino acid is rather scarce, this present poster deals with such a system, where both the amphiphiles possesses aromatic side chain and the fiber is formed.  The self-assembly of 1:1 complex of two different amphiphiles, viz., a glucosyl-salicyl-imino conjugate (L) and Phe results in the formation of nano-fibers through p�p interactions as studied through spectroscopy, microscopy and computational modeling.  The fiber formation and its bundling have been modeled by molecular mechanics studies.  AFM studies of the fiber reveals selective adherence of BSA among the a-helical albumins and b-sheet lectins studied and hence may be of use in different medical applications
