Electronic coherence transfer has been shown to be of importance in thephotosynthetic energy transfer mechanisms.  This manifestly quantummechanical mechanism may help to explain the  extraordinary robustnessand efficiency realized by photosynthetic light harvesting antennae.  Here, we have explored the energy transfer mechanism in the B800 ringof the light harvesting  complex II (LH2) of the purple bacteriaRhodobacter sphaeroides.  We will present data on long-lived coherenceand coherence transfer on the ring of the LH2 complex using ultrafasttwo-dimensional Fourier transform electronic spectroscopy.
