Computational studies have shown the formation ofpatterns in a binary mixture of immiscible surfactants adsorbed on the surfaceof a spherical nanocolloid [1]. The resulting patterns (Janus, patches, andstripes) were in good agreement with experimental results [2]. Here we performdissipative particle dynamics (DPD) simulations to study the patterns obtainedby increasing the number of surfactants in the monolayer. These simulationsresulted in a variety of new patterns that can be produced through differentcombinations of simple design elements, like nanocolloid size, degree ofsurfactant immiscibility, stoichiometry of the mixture, and length differencebetween surfactants.
