Chirality has become important because of the numerous applications in chemistry, pharmacology, medicine, material science, catalysts, food analysis and forensic analysis. Enantiomers are non-superimposed mirror images differing in their capability to rotate the polarized light in particular direction. The unique orientation of each enantiomer can result in different molecular interactions with other chiral molecules. Enantiopure molecules have higher specificity than their racemic counterparts. Our research group has synthesized a series of homologous octanuclear iron-pyrazolate complexes of formula, Fe8(�4-O4)(�-4-R-pz)12X4, which crystallizes as a racemic mixture of M and P enantiomers. We have used several separation and synthetic methods in order to get enantiopure Fe8 complex to study the contrast properties in biological media. We designed chiral ligands in order to isolate diastereomeric octanuclear complexes suitable for separation. Also, HPLC using a chiral column has been used to achieve the separation of the Fe8.
