This study presents the initial examination of the net CO2, fossil CO2 and carbon and liquid fuel yields with various scenarios for meeting the hydrogen requirements and controlling the carbon pathways for production of liquid transportation fuels via a pyrolysis pathway.  A key point is that there is unlikely to be one pathway or process configuration that will be optimal for all cases, but that these issues will be important considerations in making the optimal use of the biomass resource and biofuel investment capital, both of which are limited
