Refuse materials are gasified to produce syngas which can be utilized for the on-site generation of electricity. However, syngas has heating value in the range of 3,500~4,000 kcal/kg since it contain incombustible gas of CO2. Syngas can be upgraded if incombustible CO2 can be selectively separate within the mixture of CO, H2 and CO2 and further utilized the direct energy source in the waste treatment site. Present study is focused on developing the CO2 adsorbent which can be adsorbed selectively in the atmospheric condition. Especially, emphasis is laid on elevating CO2 adsorption performance through the ion-exchange of Zeolite adsorbent. Selected ion-exchange reagents are NaCl, KCl, LiCl and CaCl2 aqueous solution of 1 mol. Experiments in the flow reactor with room temperature & pressure showed that Zeolite of ion-exchanged with NaCl showed the highest adsorption capacity. To enhance the performance as well as stability, Zeolite is also mixed with various binders to test the CO2 adsorption performance. Developed adsorbent is also experimented to find the poisoning effect with H2S.
