Ferrocene-based chelating ligands offer the possibility to engage a redox-active metal center in a strong electronic communication and raise the possibility of redox isomerism. d0fn-Metal complexes supported by these ligands show interesting redox reactivity that can be used in influencing the course of polymerization reactions andsmall-molecule activation. The role of the ferrocene ligand in determining unprecedented reactivity will be discussed.
