A scheme for photocurrent calculations in quantum dot sensitized solar cells is proposed. The approach is exact and based on the calculations of nonequilibrium Green's functions of the system.  The Hamiltonian includes interactions between the electrons in a quantum dot, electron-phonon interactions in a quantum dot and a bulk semiconductor, interaction between semiconductor and quantum dot electrons in the tunneling approximation, and the interaction of quantum dot electrons with light in the dipole approximation.  In the case of electron-phonon interaction in a bulk semiconductor the proposed approach is not exact and valid only for wide gap semiconductors to satisfy Migdal's theorem. The equation for photocurrent cannot be expressed in terms of a simple rate equation. The described scheme is very general and includes such effects as multi-exciton generation, hot excitons, etc..
