The dephasing and population relaxation dynamics of optical phonons are measured using broadband time-resolved coherent/incoherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering. By simply adjusting the spectral bandwidth of a continuum pulse, we are able to measure both the total dephasing time and the population relaxation time of the G-band of semiconducting carbon nanotubes at the identical sample area. This sequential measurement eliminates artifacts from comparison of dynamics results of separately prepared samples measured by separate acquisition systems. We also present spatially resolved phonon dynamics measurement of individual carbon nanotubes using imaging capability, which reduces the contribution of inhomogeneous broadening and lead to direct correlation between the phonon dynamics and the intrinsic and extrinsic properties of the nanomaterials.
