Toincrease sample throughput, four independent clean-up techniques were incorporatedwith pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), described as pressurized liquid solidphase extraction.  The analysis of PCDD/Fs and PCBs analysis infish tissue, described by EPA methods, typically requires four independent columncleanup techniques.  Fish composites (10g) were extracted using PLE and interferences were removed utilizing alumina, fluorsil,silica gel, celite, and carbopak. Extracts were concentrated and analyzed by HRGC/MS and HRGC/HRMS.  Extraction solvents and adsorbent masses wereoptimized to remove interferences as well as fractionate PCDD/F from PCBs.  Over the entire analytical method, averagepercent recoveries and standard deviations from triplicate spike and recoveryexperiments for PCDD/F and PCBs in fish tissue were 72-100% � 7.3 and 90-103% �4.7, respectively.  The overall labor,time, and solvents associate with the analysis of PCDD/F and PCBs in fishtissue were reduced by 80%, 80%, and 67%, respectively.
