The photodimerization reaction of thymine is being investigated as a model of the photodimerization reaction implicated in skin cancer. Solvent effects are being investigated to explore hydrogen bonding and ? stacking effects on stereoselectivity of a thymine derivative.   The photodimerization reaction is also being followed kinetically in different solvents.
