2,2':6',2''-Bisterpyridine metallopolymers bearing well-defined p-conjugated substituents at the 4'-position are known to exhibit interesting electronic and optical properties. In particular, the ruthenium polymers can be, due to their low bandgap and a -caused by RuII- facilitated charge separation, attractive materials for the construction of solar cells. However, the synthesis of these polymers requires long reaction times and high temperatures. Using the highly effective para-fluoro-thiol  clicking reaction it is possible to introduce, beside conjugated systems, also other, e. g., temperature sensitive, moieties, since this reaction can be performed also atlow temperature (-20 �C to room temperature) and for very short times (1 h).
