To study the interaction effects of the variable parameters and to determine the optimal conditions for dry reforming of CH4, three process parameters (temperature, CO2:CH4, and CH4: steam ratios) were selected and experiments were carried out at three levels (temperature: 800, 825, and 850oC, CO2:CH4 ratio: 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2, and CH4: steam ratio: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 space velocity -17,142 cc/ h.gcat) using a custom mixed gas over a commercial catalyst (Reformax-250). The design of experiments consisted of 15 runs using Box-Behnken approach. The average reduction in CH4 and CO2 concentrations were 28% and 52 % respectively and the average increase in H2 and CO concentrations were 20% and 34% respectively. The results suggested that H2 and CO2 concentrations in the investigated range were not affected by any of the three factors. Contrarily, CO and CH4 concentrations were affected greatly by CO2:CH4 ratio and temperature, and CO2:CH4 ratio respectively.
