The view that successful individuals with disabilities succeed in spite of their disability is pervasive in society. However, the community of people with disabilities harbors individuals with unique talents and skill sets. When aligned with the right jobs, these individuals offer a competitive advantage for their organization. People with disabilities need not seek pity from short-sighted employers. People witih disabilities offer a competitive advantage for employers who can align the uniques skills of atypical (aka disabled) employees with functions that contribute to organizational success.
