Our combinatorial materials research program is primarily focused on functional electronic and magnetic thin film materials. A variety of thin film deposition techniques are used to fabricate combinatorial libraries and composition spreads. While combinatorial investigation of different topics often requires vastly different screening approaches and measurement protocols, many experiments also share the same challenges. Namely, there is a need to rapidly analyze a large set of data amassed from libraries and extract useful information. For instance, it is non-trivial to deal with a large number of spectra data from two dimensional combinatorial libraries. A common emphasis in all of our investigations is the need to obtain mapping of structural information across large compositional phase diagrams. We have developed MATLAB based software which allows visualization and analysis of spectral data for a large number of two dimensional combinatorial libraries. Interfacing of combinatorial data with databases will also be discussed.
