Lightsticks are intriguing devices that have been widely used to teach a variety of chemical concepts.  We have used lightsticks to teach principles in chemical thermodynamics, acid base reactions, redox reactions, chemical kinetics, and quantum chemistry.  In this work we describe some ways we have used lightsticks to teach chemical concepts; with primary focus on fluorescence.  Most experiments can be completed with easily obtainable, household items.
