Anatase crystalline porous titania doped with ferrous ion and sulfate ion was single-step prepared via thermal hydrolysis of industrial titanyl sulfate solution by controlling the hydrolysis process at different temperature, and then calcined at 500 �C for 2h. Crystallization of porous titania was enhanced with the hydrolysis temperature increasing, and the sample hydrolyzed at 100 �C was with the smallest average particle size of 635 nm. The prepared titania showed mesoporous structure, BET specific surface area increased first the gradually deceased with the hydrolysis temperature increasing, and the sample hydrolyzed at 100 �C with the greatest specific surface area of 193.6 m2/g. Enhancement of anatase crystallization, enlargement of specific surface area and doping with quantum sufficit ferrous ion and sulfate ion were all benefit for improving higher photocatalytic activity.
