The purpose of this work is to develop a process for the recovery of boron from brine, which is a by-product of lithium recovery, and to prepare their compounds. Borate ion in the brine was separated and recovered by the solvent extraction method. In the present scientific study we used a diols (2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol, TMPTD) as extractant for the recovery of boron. The following optimum experimental conditions applied for boron recovery from brine: 0.5 M of TMPTD was dissolved in chloroform, equilibrium time 30 min, below equilibrium pH: 6, organic phase: aqueous phase ratio (O:A) is 1 for extraction and for stripping (back extraction of the metal from loaded organic phase) was carried out by 0.75 M NaOH, O:A is 3 was maintained. Finally this study concludes that 3 stages of the extraction reached to 99.9% of boron removal from brines.
