There are 10 sets of acrylonitrile (AN) apparatus in China at present, which capacity exceeds 1,000,000t/a, but as one ton acrylonitrile is prepared, one ton wastewater containing hazardous materials (cyanogens, low polymer) will be born and flaming the wastewater is the only treatment method now. However, flaming the wastewater not only needs high cost, which is about 200 RMB/t, but also makes a large amount of carbon dioxides and oxynitrides, which seriously pollute the environment. Thus, it is imperative to develop environmental treatment method with low energy consumption and cost.This research was about the dealing with high concentration AN wastewater. Five kinds of flocculants were used in the treatment, and the effect of kinds, amount, and combination of flocculants, as well as mixing time on the treatment efficiency. The optimum operation condition is as follows: PAM+ (32ml/L)-poly(aluminum chloride) (40ml/L). The removal efficiency of CODCr reached 21.4%, with turbidity 18.84NTU and colour 1960�. Two stage anofiltration was used to concentrate AN wastewater(COD, 17726.0mg/L) after flocculation process. The effect of cut-off molecular weight of nanofiltration membranes on the treatment efficiency was studied. It was found that with G1 nanofiltration membrane (cut-off  molecular weight, 100-150), the removal efficiency of CODCr reached 56.03%, with turbidity 0.504NTU and colour 6�.
