The renal radiotracer 99mTc(CO)3(NTA)2- recently evaluated in humans shows improvement over the current clinical standard, 99mTc-MAG3. We prepared 99mTc(CO)3L- analogs of the NTA tracer to assess the correlation of structural features and attributes to the in vivo pharmacokinetics, including the importance of a negatively charged dangling group. Structures of three 99mTc(CO)3L- tracers were assigned using 1H-NMR and/or X-ray crystal structure data for three new Re analogs.
