Two new calcium based metal-organic frameworks, [Ca3(btc)2(H2O)12] (1) and  [Ca2(btc)(pzc)(H2O)3] (2),   have been synthesized using the hydrothermal method using benzene 1,3,5-dicarboxylic acid (H3btc)  or/and pyrazine 2-dicarboxylic acid (Hpzc)  ligands. The two compounds exhibit extended networks with distinct dimensionalities. The structure of compound 1 is a three-dimensional framework consisting of Ca ions, btc ligands and coordinated waters. The structure of compound 2 is a double layered network. These compounds were characterized with powder X-Ray Diffraction, IR spectroscopy, Fluorescence spectroscopy and thermal properties were analyzed with thermo gravimetric analysis.
