Metallic materials are used as biomedical devices in the human body. Body fluid consists of inorganic ions, amino acids, proteins, and organic acids. The implanted material is exposed to body fluids, such as intercellular fluid and blood depending on the surrounding tissue, thus leading to different corrosion rate. Magnesium becomes a kind of promising material for implants. In this work, we fabricate rugged ion selective electrodes based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and apply sensors to study corrosion of magnesium implants.
