The College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas Austin in partnership with the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement has been offering a dual credit Chemistry in Context course to Title 1 high schools for the past several years.   Starting in the 2009 � 2010 academic year, a new approach was developed in which guided inquiry activities were embedded into the curriculum.  Many of the activities have been adapted from the POGIL High School website.  This presentation will outline the curriculum, and how it is delivered as hybrid course.  The hybrid course combines online learning in the form of web based learning modules (short videos with questions) with meaningful classroom activities (POGIL type activities facilitated by the high school teacher).  Upon implementation of this hybrid model, the QDF rates decreased.  Further, this presentation will present how veteran and new teachers alike have adapted to this �new� type of teaching.
