Preparation of processable and highly conducting polyaniline was carried out in the presence of anionic surfactant  DEHSSA (di-2-ethyl hexylsulfosuccinic acid sodium salt) in the presence of various inorganic acid. DEHSSA doped polyaniline showed highly conductivity after secondary doped with m-cresol.  The secondary doping induces polymer backbone conformation from �folded coil-like� to �expanded coil-like� and the highest conductivity obtained. We propose that type of acid used influenced the doping level of DEHSSA along polyaniline backbone, as doping site exists as polaron.  Highly conductive polyaniline was applied to the counter electrode for the dye sensitized solar cell in order to replace Pt counter electrode.  The overall energy conversion efficiency of the DSSC with polyaniline counter electrode is higher than that of the DSSC with Pt counter electrode.
