We have recently found that N-chloro urea substrates can be used to generate diaza-allylic cations and that these reactive intermediates undergo a diaza-[4+3] cycloaddition reaction with diene reactants and provide 7-membered urea products. Details of the development, optimization, and application in target-directed synthesis will be presented.
