CH activation occupies a central role in the reaction of organic species with transition metal fragments and the understanding of the mechanism at the molecular level is important for designing more efficient processes.  Computational studies of reaction mechanisms have been very successful in establishing reaction pathways. We will illustrate some recent results where the metal species is a lanthanide complex and a Ni(0) complex.
