Polymer solar cells are an emerging organic photovoltaic technology where the electronic devices are processed from solution by traditional coating techniques. It has been recognized that the morphology of the photoactive layer plays an important role in determining the device performance. Comparing to other semiconducting polymers, polythiophenes have shown promise for making high efficiency organic solar cells due to the fast charge transport and chemical stability. In this work, we study microstructure and optoelectronic properties of water-soluble anionic polythiophenes. We find that addition of the cationic surfactant to the polymer aqueous solution significantly affects the polymer conformation. The optoelectronic properties of the polymer will be addressed
