The reactive Pt0 fragment [Pt(dippe)] reacts with a variety of carbon-sulfur bonds to give oxidative addition products.  Here, reactions with a variety of thiophenes will be examined for kinetic and thermodynamic preferences.  Comparisons are made to selectivities seen with [Cp*Rh(PMe3)] and [Ni(dippe)].  In addition, insertion reaction of [Pt(dippe)] into the C�S bonds of thioesters has been examined, and their subsequent reactivity elucidated.
