The producing of ultra-clean diesel with lower sulfur and aromatics is an important subject of environmental catalysis in recent years, and it is imperative to develop new hydrotreating catalysts of higher activity and selectivity in hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodearomatization (HDA). In this work, two molecular sieves, ETS-10 and AlPO4-5, were incorporated simultaneously into alumina to prepare the composite support (ATSP), and the hydrotreating catalyst (NiW/ATSP) was then prepared by loading Ni and W active metal phase. NiW/ATSP exhibits remarkable HDS and HDA activity. UV-DRS and LR spectra proved that the incorporation of ETS-10 and AlPO4-5 to alumina showed positive synergism effect; the surface characteristic of composite support ATSP favoring the formation of octahedrally coordinated polymeric W species, which has been reported to interact with support weakly, probably contributing to easier reducibility and higher activity.
