The cyclic dimer of hexafluorothioacetone, (CDHFTA,  2,2,4,4-tetrakis(trifluoromethyldithietane-1,3), is a readily available  material, which can be obtained by the catalyzed reaction of sulfur and  hexafluoropropene in a polar solvent. This material is usually used as  the precursor of hexafluoroacetone, since in the presence of alkali  metal fluorides it exists in equilibrium with hexafluorothioacetone. In  this presentation, new data on the reaction of CDHFTA with vinyl ethers  and azoles will be presented and the mechanisms and scope of these  reactions will be discussed.
